Kisiwa Technical Training Institute, registration number MOHEST/PC/1144/09, under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology was formally registered as East Bukusu Kisiwa Youth Club of the Elgon Nyanza District on 27th November, 1961 by the Kenya Youth Club Association and the first Courses were; Shoe making, Carpentry and Masonry and the founder members were Domnick Wetang’ula and Sylvester Kituyi with the objective of preparing the youth for self reliance and employment. Over the years, the institute has gone through different phases: In 2006 it acquired an exam centre, on 7th December, 2008 the Technical Training Institute was launched and the first Principal was posted in May, 2009 (Mr. Sabulei K. Moses); First admission was done in September, 2009. Currently it has 28 TSC Lecturers, 42 B.O.M Lecturers and 29 workers or support staff. The institute is located to the Eastern slopes of Kabuchai hills in West Nalondo Location, Bungoma central sub-county. It is situated on Five (5) acres of land with Title deed. The student enrolment as per now stands at 500 Students.
The institution is managed by a board of Governors made up of the chairman, secretary, county director of education (TVET), and other seven professionals.
Kisiwa technical training institute is committed to train and produce knowledgeable, skilled, innovative and responsible manpower in engineering, Science and technology to meet the changing needs of industry and society.

ACADEMIC HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS
The duties include;
-report to the principal
-Advice the principal on all matters pertaining to academic and administration of the department.
a) Co-ordinate the preparation of students progress reports and academic certificates
b) Co-ordinate the induction of new staff and orientation of new students
c) Advice the principal on staff recruitment, training development, promotion(teaching and non-teaching)
d) Teaching specialized subject on a reasonable load.
e) Organizing industrial attachment liaison with liaison officer.
f) Preparation of departmental time table and ensure that he wok schedule is carried out according to the plan.
g) Admission of new students to the department.
a) Be the departmental liaison officer with other departments in all matters affecting the department.
b) Responsible for short term and long-term planning budgeting and budgetary control of the department
c) Preparation of recurrent reports i.e. staff returns, stock taking, confidential reports etc.
d) Advice the principal on matters pertaining to the discipline of teaching and non-teaching staff and students within the department.
e) Delegation of duties and supervision of teaching and non-teaching staff within the department.
f) Responsible for the matters pertaining to the cleanliness and safety within the department in liaison with the registrar.
